Jumia, Uganda’s largest online marketplace, is offering its client base in Kampala and Entebbe free next-day delivery using the Jumia express orders option. The offer is aimed at boosting online sales by giving Ugandans incentives to shop online.
“We want Ugandans to shop online conveniently without having to worry about delivery fees. That is why we have made it possible for customers to get free unlimited delivery in Kampala and Entebbe and we are looking to add more cities soon,” Ron Kawamara, the CEO of Jumia Uganda, said.
The offer is targeted at consumers living in the areas of Kampala and Entebbe who place orders of over Ush25,000 with a delivery time the following day.
Jumia believes that, if appropriately leveraged, technology has the power to transform the daily lives of ordinary people in Africa. It is for this reason that Jumia was created, as an online marketplace where clients can have access to millions of affordable goods at the click of a button.
While speaking about their new offer, Kawamara said, “This is a great opportunity for our consumers to enjoy the same brand, product and quality experience from our official partners like Coca-Cola, Kakira, Jameson, Movit, Samsung, Tecno among others and also access over 10,000 products sourced locally from sellers across the country like NUMA Foods, Fabiola Beauty, MK Books and more. It also presents an avenue for us to give back to our consumers by offering them this free delivery option in addition to cost-saving deals while supporting the government’s Buy Uganda, Build Uganda campaign initiatives.”
Jumia is Africa’s leading e-commerce platform and is supported by the firm’s logistics business, dubbed Jumia Logistics. Additionally, its digital payments fintech arm, JumiaPay, supports payments on the platform.
The firm works in partnership with other sellers and brands, enabling it to offer its consumers a wide range of goods ranging from electronics, groceries and apparel, just to mention a few.
Also, consumers can take advantage of special deals like the Jumia flash sales, spot and win, treasure hunts, and wheels of fortune which can be accessed through the mobile app and the firm’s official website. An array of payment options such as mobile money, cash on delivery, and Visa are available for shoppers
