In a heartwarming act of support for local entrepreneurship, MTN Uganda donated a new pickup truck to Night Ampurire, a hardworking single mother and entrepreneur from Entebbe. The handover ceremony occurred in Kitooro, Entebbe, where MTN Uganda’s CEO, Sylvia Mulinge, presented the keys to Ampurire.
Ampurire, a single mother of five, has been a cornerstone of her family and community through her business of transporting and selling fresh produce, including watermelons and pineapples. Since 2015, she had been using a used Nissan pickup truck, registration number UAD 085B, which she bought on installment for UGX 3.5 million. However, the vehicle’s state of disrepair posed safety risks, hampering her ability to run her business effectively.
Despite these challenges, Ampurire’s perseverance and commitment never wavered. Her situation was recently highlighted in a national television broadcast, bringing her story of resilience to the forefront. The coverage caught the attention of MTN Uganda, leading the company to offer her a new Nissan pickup truck, aligning with MTN’s philosophy of “Together we are unstoppable.”
During the handover, Sylvia Mulinge said, “MTN Uganda is dedicated to fostering community and mutual support. Night Ampurire’s journey exemplifies the resilience and determination that define our people. We are proud to assist her and hope this new vehicle enhances her business operations and ensures her safety, as well as that of others on the road.”
Ampurire expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying, “Receiving this pickup truck is a dream come true for my family and me. MTN Uganda has provided not just a vehicle but renewed hope and strength to advance my business. I am incredibly grateful and optimistic about the future.”
The new truck was provided with a baby car seat, a full tank of fuel, and comprehensive motor insurance.
