Airtel Mobile Commerce Uganda (AMCUL) has entered a strategic partnership with Stabex International, a prominent fuel distribution company, to enhance cashless payment options. The initiative is aimed at clients who use Stabex fuel and related automotive services. Additionally, customers have the chance to win exciting prizes, including a brand-new Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and motorbikes.

Speaking on the partnership, Airtel Money Operations Head Hope Ekudu, emphasized its significance in promoting digital payments. “We are thrilled to partner with Stabex International to strengthen financial inclusion in Uganda. This initiative underscores our commitment to providing secure and accessible financial solutions. Through this collaboration, customers can now use their mobile wallets to make cashless fuel payments and access a range of services at Stabex locations across the country,” Ekudu said.

Ekudu also highlighted the incentive aspect of the partnership. “Stabex customers who make cashless payments will automatically qualify for a draw to win prizes as part of the nationwide Vroomula Amajja campaign. Rewards include a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, motorbikes, and e-money.”

According to the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) 2024 Quarter 2 report, mobile money transactions have grown from 1.72 billion to 1.84 billion in the past quarter. This growth reflects Airtel Money’s continuing efforts to encourage the use of mobile wallets for services such as money transfers, bill payments, fuel purchases, and more.

Stabex International’s General Manager, Justus Kiptoo, expressed optimism about the partnership. “We aim to provide greater convenience and value to our customers by simplifying petroleum product payments through cashless methods. This partnership aligns with our mission to offer faster, more secure transactions. We also encourage broader adoption of digital payments in Uganda,” Kiptoo stated.

He added that the Vroomula Amajja campaign would reward customers who embrace cashless payments. “Winners will not only receive prizes such as motorbikes and the grand Toyota Hybrid but will also enjoy added benefits. These include things like a full tank of fuel for the grand prize recipients.”

This initiative complements Airtel Money’s broader efforts to foster a cashless economy, as demonstrated by the success of the Vroomula Amajja campaign. To date, over 2,000 Airtel Money users have won various rewards. These include 52 motorbikes and substantial daily cash prizes.
