C-Care Uganda has unveiled a state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner at its C-Care IHK hospital. Formally International Hospital Kampala (IHK), C-Care IHK is a multi-specialty hospital that uses a patient-first approach in providing health care services.
The new medical installation is set to improve the accuracy and efficiency of medical imaging in Uganda. The 1.5 Tesla Magnetom Altea MRI scanner incorporates advanced AI-powered technology, providing exceptional imaging quality while reducing scan times to just 10 to 15 minutes. This development addresses key challenges in the healthcare sector, such as lengthy diagnostic processes and the reliance on international referrals for specialized imaging.
Azhar Sundhoo, CEO of C-Care Uganda, while highlighting the importance of this advancement, said, “This launch reinforces our leadership in healthcare and demonstrates our unwavering focus on patient care. Beyond Kampala, we are also expanding diagnostic services to Mukono, Mbale, and Gulu to ensure more Ugandans can access advanced medical solutions.”
Dr. Miriam Musinga Mutero, General Manager of C-Care IHK, outlined the benefits of the new MRI scanner. “With this technology, we can now conduct a wide range of diagnostic tests. These range from routine to complex tests that were previously unavailable in Uganda. Our comprehensive diagnostic services eliminate the need for external referrals, enabling us to better serve our patients. We are also keen to collaborate with other healthcare providers to improve health outcomes across the country,” she explained.
C-Care Uganda is not only focused on enhancing services at its Kampala facility but is also investing in expanding diagnostic infrastructure in regional centers. This initiative aims to bring equitable access to high-quality medical care across Uganda. “Our vision is to create an inclusive and sustainable healthcare system that truly makes a difference in people’s lives,” Sundhoo added.
