Imagine a Ugandan village where every home is lit, farmers use solar-powered machines, and kids study at night without the hum of a generator. That’s the vision behind Schneider Electric’s latest innovation, the Climate Smart Village, launched today at the Energy Access Investment Forum (EAIF) in Kampala.
With Uganda’s electricity access still below 20%—and most rural areas completely off-grid—Schneider’s solution is a game changer. Using smart solar technology, it powers everything from homes to irrigation systems and even agro-processing units, all while cutting costs and pollution.
“It’s not just about power—it’s about better incomes, less migration, and thriving communities,” said Ifeanyi Odoh, Schneider Electric’s East Africa General Manager.
In India, where this tech is already in action, village incomes jumped by up to UGX 3 million per year! Uganda could be next.
But it’s not just about tech. Schneider is also putting women at the center of the energy revolution. A new white paper they released at the forum highlights how women-led energy groups have doubled household incomes in some communities.
“If we want real impact, we must include everyone—especially women,” said Albert Fuchet, Global VP for Access to Energy.
The EAIF forum runs through April 10 and brings together big energy players, investors, and government reps to talk big ideas for a better-powered Africa.
