Stanbic Uganda Holding Limited (SUHL), through Flyhub, its fintech subsidiary, has signed an MoU with Refactory, a tech training academy, to equip entrepreneurs, business leaders, and members of civil society and government organizations with support and skills that will enable them to lead their companies towards digitization.
FlyHub Chief Executive Joel Muhumuza said that the trainees will undergo different training modules using a series of Masterclasses to enable them to understand how they can lead their teams as they invest in information technology assets.
Trainees will also access digital software development services from Refactory and FlyHub, on a trial basis before they can decide to enlist for full onboarding.
“This partnership will help demystify, through the masterclasses, what digital transformation for businesses means by creating a tool kit to allow institutions, and individuals to evaluate themselves and see where they need to begin, and what potential tools they need to go to the next level.” Muhumuza said.
With the training, participants will have the option of finding solutions for their firms from different players in the market, or working with FlyHub and Refactory to design and develop the solutions they need for their organizations Muhumuza added.
The training will be organized in four masterclasses per quarter over the next five years, with each intake accommodating 24 business leaders.
Refactory’s program director, Michael Niyitegeka, said, “We are excited to enter this partnership with Stanbic Uganda and are looking forward to collaborating with FlyHub to support business leaders and individuals to navigate their digital transformation journeys.”
Aside from designing the masterclass, FlyHub and Refactory will work together in developing toolkits for SUHL’s clients that they can use to evaluate the digital transformation readiness of their businesses and organizations.
SUHL’s chief executive, Andrew Mashanda, said, “The partnership will create industry-relevant tools to quicken the pace of digital transformation in line with Uganda’s National Development Plan, “Vision 2040,” and The National ICT Digital Uganda Vision. The partnership is in line with Stanbic Uganda’s purpose of driving Uganda’s growth and becoming a platform business that leverages digital technology to improve the overall client experience and tap into new ecosystems.”
