In an effort to advance technology-enabled learning, Centenary Bank has donated 20 computers to St. Cecilia Junior School, located in Najjanankumbi. This initiative seeks to foster digital education among students. The allocation of the computers is in alignment with Centenary Bank’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and its dedication to environmental, social, and governance objectives within Uganda.
Ms. Allen Ayebare, the Chief Manager of Corporate Affairs and Communications at Centenary Bank, stressed the institution’s deliberate commitment to boost education and invest in technology. This investment aims to empower Ugandan students by boosting their academic potential and preparing them for an intelligent future, in line with the bank’s progression towards becoming a smart bank.
Ayebare said to the school management, “Our engagement resonates with our educational and digital objectives. As we transition into a smart bank, we do not embark on this journey alone; we extend our journey to include you and thank you for nurturing the vision of our nation because influencing a child equates to influencing Uganda.”
Additionally, Ayebare revealed that a dedicated portion of Centenary Bank’s net profits, equivalent to 2% annually, is allocated for initiatives in support of corporate social responsibility. This commitment, she added, is complemented by partnerships that amplify the bank’s contributions to various causes.
Teddy Nankinga, the Headteacher of St. Cecilia Junior School, expressed appreciation for Centenary Bank’s donation. She reiterated the significance of early ICT education in facilitating children’s adaptation to global transformation.
She said, “We extend our sincere gratitude to Centenary Bank for selecting our school amidst numerous contenders to receive these computers. We recognize that equipping children with ICT education is essential for them to thrive on an international scale.” Nankinga added that the support, will enable the school to ensure that its students remain attuned to evolving global trends. Centenary Bank’s history is marked by a consistent and intentional commitment to enhancing lives and uplifting the well-being of the communities within its operational sphere.
