MTN, TakeNow Bring Installment Phone Ownership to Customers

By Mark Kawalya

MTN Uganda has partnered with TakeNow to offer its clients a wide range of smartphone options that they can purchase using an affordable monthly installment plan dubbed the mpola mpola payment scheme. This partnership will bring MTN customers phones from manufacturers such as Inifinix, Tecno, Itel along with the connectivity services that are offered under the MTN network.

MTN’s Chief Marketing Officer, Somdev Sen, voiced his enthusiasm about the partnership, saying that the telecom was positive that the collaboration with TakeNow would bring a range of smartphone choices to their clientele.

“At MTN, our focus has always been on delivering exceptional value and convenience to our customers, and this partnership aligns perfectly with our commitment to offering industry-leading connectivity solutions,” said Sen. He added that “By expanding the smartphone options through Tecno, Itel, and Infinix, we are providing our customers with more opportunities to find their ideal device that fits their lifestyle.”

To further add customer-centric value to the initiative, MTN is offering 1GB of monthly data through the entire repayment period, which will enable the firm’s clients to get more utility from their devices.

Somdev believes that by working with selected phone manufacturers, more Ugandans will be connected to the internet and access digital services.

“Together with Tecno, Itel, and Infinix, we are creating a stronger ecosystem that caters to our customers’ diverse needs, allowing them to stay connected and make progress in this digital age. At MTN, we are dedicated to enabling our customers’ balanced lives, and these new smartphones are a testament to that commitment.” He said.

Through the mpola mpola scheme, users can make an initial payment that is 40% of the total cost of the phone, which allows them to walk away with the device. The rest of the payment is broken down into manageable monthly installments that are spread over a 6-month period.

Ronald Mugulusi, TakeNow’s Director of Sales, said, “With this partnership, every Ugandan can get a Tecno, Itel, and Infinix smartphone on loan. With a small initial deposit, you can walk away with your favorite smartphone and pay the balance Mpola Mpola, plus these phones come with free MTN 7GB worth of data.”
