Three Female-led Ugandan Startups among WiNFUND finalists

WiNFUND, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting female-led health startups with measurable world impact, has announced 16 finalists for its funding program.

These finalists were selected from a pool of over 300 applicants across seven African countries. These include Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Rwanda, and the Middle East and the decision was based on their potential to transform the healthcare sector.

One of the finalists is CHIL AI Lab Group, utilizes artificial intelligence and machine learning to offer affordable and medically proven chronic disease prevention and management services to women in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

The company is made up of healthcare, Artificial Intelligence, and business experts committed to delivering scalable and sustainable healthcare solutions that promote health equity and have a positive impact on the lives of women.

Shamim Nabuuma Kaliisa, the CEO and co-founder of CHIL AI Lab Group, expressed her gratitude to WiNFUND and noted that organizations like WiNFUND can help make breast and cervical cancer a thing of the past if they join the fight.

“As CHIL AI Lab Group, we want to make breast and cervical cancer history by leveraging technology to provide access to quality healthcare services,” she said.

The other 15 finalists were Cape Bio Pharms (Pty) Ltd, PinkDrive NPC, MamaOpe Medicals, Ambulex, Thruthshare, Novo Health Africa, Kisumu Medical and Educational Trust, Hospice Africa Uganda, Peleyta Health (Uganda), MIKEDCARES Ltd, Safari Doctors, Ufasiri Halisi SLI Innovations Limited, Kosmotive, and Alma Clinics.

WiNFUND’s approach combines grassroots efforts, technological innovation, and frontline worker expertise to support female-led health startups. The initiative leverages NFTs (non-fungible tokens) to fund projects, in addition to traditional funding sources. This initiative serves as a remarkable example of how technology and innovation can create social impact, particularly in the healthcare sector, which is essential for any nation’s growth and development. WiNFUND’s support of female entrepreneurs in solving complex healthcare challenges, creating jobs, and making a positive difference in their communities is empowering and will lead to positive changes in the industry.
